Shadows slither ‘cross the floor,

Shadows reach around the door.

Shadows fill the nighttime sky,

Shadows creep to where I lie.

Shadows up and down and round.

Shadows dog me like a hound,

Shadows haunt me like a ghost,

Shadows are what I fear most.

Shadows here, shadows there,

I see shadows everywhere.

Shadows big and tall and thin,

Shadows crawl across my skin.

Their eyes glisten in the dark,

Their skin is pale, cold and stark.

I bite my nails, I pull my hair.

Shadows fill the nighttime air.
