This year, my all-time favourite author, Kate Forsyth (Bitter Greens, The Wild Girl, The Witches of Eileanan) will have five(ish) new releases! (Well, more along the lines of four, but we’ll get to that.)
Since I first read one of Kate’s books (The Puzzle Ring, and it is still one of my all-time favourites) she has only had four novels released, along with a picture book. Thankfully, however, I’ve had all that time to track down her other novels, too, so I haven’t had to wait for another Kate Forsyth novel to read for some time.
But to have four new books released in a single year is very exciting! Christmas will last all year round! And they’re all quite varied subjects, so we’ll get a little taste of everything.
In the order of their releases, Kate’s new books are:
The Wild Girl (second edition)
This new edition is released in Australia on March 3. You can preorder it on Booktopia.
Two Selkie Stories from Scotland
In this children’s book illustrated Fiona McDonald, Kate retells two Scottish folk tales about the mythological selkies, who live as seals in the ocean, but shed their skin and become human on land.
Two Selkie Stories is due to be published by Christmas Press in May.
Dancing on Knives
On the blurb, this new(ish) adults’ novel is described as “a suspenseful murder mystery and a lyrical love story”. The story follows Sara, a 20 year old woman whose father is found dangling from a cliff-face, alive, and the mysteries and secrets unfolding before them.
This is actually a rerelease of Kate’s first contemporary novel, Full Fathom Five, which was released under her maiden name, Kate Humphrey.
Dancing on Knives is set to be released on June 2, and can be preordered on Booktopia.
The Impossible Quest
I’m looking forward to this very, very much…
The Impossible Quest is a five-book children’s fantasy series:
“Four unlikely heroes
Four mysterious gifts
Four impossible tasks
Five exciting books”
The first book in the series, Escape from Wolfhaven Castle has a September release date, and Book 2, The Wild Man of the Witchwood, will be released in November. News on the next three books is yet to come!
(If that epic logo doesn’t look like it came right out of a Hollywood film, I don’t know what does.)
Most of this information came from Kate’s recent blog post.
Are you as excited as I am? Have you read any of Kate’s other novels? If not, get on to them! I highly recommend everything she has written!
